Laura Chavez launched the Junkluggers of Austin in late 2017. Her focus has been creating a “for purpose” organization that is dedicated to giving back to the Austin community. The local junk removal service business is highly fragmented in Travis County.
Because of this, there are significantly different customer experiences when it comes to junk hauling. The Junkluggers of Austin is focused on donating usable items, re-purposing or recycling. Not only does this strategy help members of the Austin community, but it also reduces the number of items that end up in the landfill. It is Laura’s vision to reduce the amount of items sent to the local landfill. Our work highly values our Green Guarantee.
Our eco-friendly sort model
Our work is just beginning once we leave your home or office. We aim to keep at least 80% of the items we pick up out of the Austin landfill. Therefore, we work to sort out items removed into metal for recycling, items for immediate donation, and articles for repair (upcycling). This extra step can dramatically divert usable items away from the landfill. We believe we must contribute to the Austin circular economy by creating different streams of waste management.

The West Austin Chamber of Commerce was launched in the summer of 2016; evolved from the Four Points Chamber of Commerce in its 6th year of operation. The name change to “West Austin Chamber of Commerce” was a result of massive area growth in recent years. Our regional voice for businesses and community had grown and re-branding allowed us to widen our footprint; better positioned to take the lead on area issues such as transportation, employer challenges, and education.
